Add Pass Light Switch to Scooter

Have you been Irritated from the high beams from oncoming vehicles during the night?

If yes then you are in the right place.
however indian scooters do not come fitted with a pass light feature except for the TVS jupiter.
the following instructable will tell you how to add a pass light to your scooter under 100 Indian Rupees.
I have succesfully managed to do this on honda activa and honda DIO and hence it should also work for honda aviator, Hero Pleasure and Suzuki Access

Step 1: Materials , Tools Needed

  1. TVS Jupiter's Hi-Low beam switch which has got pass light feature.
    costs around 95-98 rupees
  2. 1m automotive wire.(speaker wire will also work)
  3. wire stripper
  4. Insulation Tape
  5. File tool
  6. Multimeter if you want to be sure of your connections.
  7. common sense

Step 2: Making the Space

Take out your existing Hi-Low switch button from the dash of the scooter.
The pass light switch button is little large on its sides so use the file tool to file a little portion of the dash to fit in the button.

Step 3: Connections

Take out your existing Hi-Low switch button from the dash of the scooter.
The pass light switch button is little large on its sides so use the file tool to file a little portion of the dash to fit in the button.
The stock wiring connector has 3 wires. Middle is supply and right and left are high and low output wires.
The new button comes with 4 wires and a connector. First get rid of the connector by cutting it out.
Refer to images for further connection.
Connect the middle Brown wire (stock) which is the supply from the stock wiring to the yellow with green stripe color wire of new button which is the suppply.
similarly stock white wire low beam to white with red stripe color wire
and stock Blue wire to combination of yellow and green color wire
The Last remaining orange wire from the switch has to be given a +12vdc from the ignition switch As this is where the output for the pass functionality is going to be supplied.
So run a wire from the ignition switch to this wire and connect it. in my case i have used a speaker wire.
Note: Make sure you do all connections properly and correctly as it can damage your electrical system if done incorrectly.
For other scooters other than activa please check the wires operation before connecting.

Step 4: Testing

For other scooters other than activa please check the wires operation before connecting. Test all your connection.
once everything works fine use insulation tape to cover up the joints.

Step 5: Enjoy

Enjoy your pass light on your scooter.

How to Add Hazard Light With Switch for Scooter/bike

Hazard light is blinking all 4 side lights together. It helps greatly in bad weather conditions.
As my scooter didn't have the hazard light i thought of going through the DIY route.

My scooter is Honda Activa and hence this will work perfectly on honda dio , honda aviator, hero pleasure etc
Please note this method works well on an electronic flasher. It will not work on thermal flasher.
DISCLAMER:
Do not proceed any further if you don't know what this is all about. your warranty may be void by doing this.
I am not to be held responsible for any of your damage(s) if occurred under any circumstances whatsoever.

Step 1: Materials, Tools Needed

you will need the following things:
Hazard light switch Button

I have used the following flasher. it comes with adjustable flashing speed too.

Phillips screwdriver
Wire stripper
hacksaw blade
Insulation tape
or any other form of insulation material will do.
Common sense

Step 2: Prepare the Area

Have a close look at the area where you want to place this button. (you will have put a hole into the plastic dash.)
Check the image for an approximate idea.
then mark the measurements to drill a hole to fit the button.
P.S sorry I did't click pictures when i did this mod.

Step 3: Connection

The stock sidelight switch consist of 3 wires in case of my scooter.
The middle wire is power supply and the left and right wires are to carry current to appropriate right and left lights.
(NOTE: In case of 4 wires please find out the proper wires and connect accordingly.)
The hazard switch button consist of 3 wires.
use the wire stripper to strip little insulation from all 3 stock wires to expose the wire .
Now connect the hazard buttion middle wire to the middle wire of the stock wiring. similarly follow for the left and right wire.
Step 4: Test the Setup

Check if the connections are proper and then press the hazard button.
All 4 side lights should blink together.
once everything is set, use the insulation tape to cover up the new connection points made.
It should look something closed to as shown in the image.

DONE!!!!!!!
